Pet Grooming Plus

This is 15 weeks (600 hours) pet grooming program.

In addition to all basic pet grooming vocational training techniques this program emphasizes hand scissoring on all breeds and hand stripping on Terriers. 
Although our top priority is teaching the art of canine grooming, there is much more to the profession.

Students enrolled in this program will have classroom lectures on the following subjects:
  • AKC group recognition - Non-Sporting, Sporting, Toy, Terrier, Hound, Working and Herding
  • Job search and placement
  • Client-pet groomer relations
  • Product use and health hazards
  • Shop Sanitation
  • Vocabulary
  • Heart Worm
  • Dental Care
  • Pest Control, recognition and care of pets with infestations
  • Ear and Eye Care
  • Skin and Coat Care
  • Pregnancy, Labor and Delivery Care
  • Nutrition pertaining to coat care and skin irritations
  • Intestinal parasites, recognition and cause of
  • Immunizations for canine and feline
  • Contagious diseases for canine and feline
  • Contagious conditions between humans and pets
  • Controlling the feline
  • Market research, advertising and promotion for starting a business
  • Grooming contests and seminars
  • Certification information

Students in this program will have 11 written exams.

There will be 6 demonstration (hands on) test:

  • Cocker
  • Schnauzer
  • Poodle
  • Long legged Terrier
  • Short legged Terrier
  • Hand Scissoring all over

Enrollees in this program are offered optional field trips:

  • Mobile grooming for 1/2 day
  • Kennel for 1/2 day
