MSCC's Pet Grooming Plus is a 600 hr. professional grooming program that will teach students everything that is covered in the Basic Grooming Program. In addition, this program teaches proper knowledge of breed conformation and outlines, the ability to recognize faults and techniques and correct or camouflage them allowing for a balanced, harmonious, picture perfect finish. The art of Hand Scissoring is also taught to enhance the breed profile and sculpt the coat. Hand Stripping and Carding of both Terrier and Sporting breeds essential for preservation of the correct coat texture, color and health of certain breeds, as well as correct application of these techniques to ensure the safety of the dog.

Creative Grooming is taught at our 600 hr. program. Students will learn what products are available to correctly and safely apply to the pets coat to "color" or "dye" the coat, offering clients a truly unique look for their pet.

MSCC also strongly believes that being a Professional Pet Groomer also means having ample knowledge of animal health. No one can replace a proper veterinarian’s diagnosis however, a skilled pet groomer can aid clients by recognizing issues that need to be addressed. We help prepare students by giving them a wealth of information through hands on teaching and classroom lectures, such as...

  • Dental Care
  • Eye and ear care – (Routine maintenance as well as ailments that affect both feline and canine’s ears and eyes.)
  • Pest Control – (Recognition and control of pests and parasite infestations.)
  • Skin and coat care – (Common causes and aids in treatment of skin conditions.)
  • Prenatal and whelping care
  • Nutrition for pets
  • Contagious diseases – (Contagious diseases affecting the canine, feline and/or human; recognizing symptoms and prevention.)
